90.The person who visits the graves of parents/one of them, and he recites Yasin at the graveside of them, they will be forgiven?
Q- Is this Hadith authentic?Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddique (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “The person who visits the graves of both his parents, or one of them, and he recites Surah Yasin at the graveside (of one) or at both of them, they will be forgiven.”

This narration has appeared in certain primary and non primary sources. (Refer: At Tadwin Fi Akhbari Qazwin, vol. 3 pg. 37). The version in question does not specify any day. The problematic narrator appears in both these versions. Therefore, the narration in question is also unreliable.

Note: Although this specific reward is unauthentic, visiting the graveyard as well as visiting the graves of one’s relatives is definitely an act that holds reward and great effect too.

Hafiz Ibn Abid Dunya (rahimahullah) has recorded the following Hadith of Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) on the authority of Muhammad Ibn Sirin (rahimahullah) [mursalan- مرسلا] with an authentic chain: “When a child who was disobedient makes du’a for his parents after their demise, Allah records him to be from those who are dutiful to their parents”. (Refer: Al Mughni ‘An Hamlil Asfar, Hadith: 4432 and Faydul Qadir, Hadith: 8718)
