Q- What is status of following narration? قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: أيما شاب تزوج في حداثة سنه إلا عج شيطانه: يا ويله، يا ويله، عصم مني دينه. “When a youngster gets married, Shaytan cries out, ‘Woe to him, woe to him, he has protected his religion from me.”
Imams Abu Ya’la and Tabarani (rahimahumallah) have recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Jabir ibn ‘Abdillah (radiyallahu ‘anhuma). (Musnad Abu Ya’la, Hadith: 2041, Al Mu’jamul Awsat, Hadith: 4472)
However, Hafiz Ibn Hajar Al ‘Asqalani (rahimahullah) has declared the text unreliable (munkar) and has declared one of the narrators extremely weak. (Al Matalibul ‘Aliyah, Hadith: 1643-1644. Also see: Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 4 pg. 253). Although marriage does indeed keep a man chaste, this particular Hadith is not suitable to quote.
And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
